Diabetes - Feeling unwell

Feeling unwell is unpleasant for anyone, but when you have diabetes unfortunately you can’t just pull the duvet over your head and go back to bed.

When ill the Blood Glucose levels frequently go up and so more care is needed to get you well again.

You must never stop taking your insulin.

If you take a SGLT-2 (Canagliflozin, Dapagliflozin, Empaglifozin) these tablets must be stopped whilst unwell.

Metformin must be stopped if you have diarrhoea or vomiting.
