Medical Director

Dr Rebecca Martin, an experienced leader with a sharp focus on high quality patient-centred care, joined QEH in September 2023.

Her role comes with a broad remit of responsibilities including professional leadership of medical staff and development of the medical workforce; supporting the delivery of the Electronic Patient Record system; supporting the use of technology and digital innovation to enhance service delivery and developing the Trust’s approach to clinical standards and clinical prioritisation.

Dr Martin graduated from the University of Nottingham and completed her specialist training at the Nottingham and East Midlands School of Anaesthesia.

She worked at Mid Essex Hospital Trust in Chelmsford for almost 17 years from and was a Consultant in Burns Anaesthesia and Intensive Care.

She was the Trust’s Deputy Medical Director for three years until February 2020 when she joined East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust as its Chief Medical Officer just days after the government announced there would be a review into maternity and neonatal services led by Dr Bill Kirkup.

Dr Martin has been a member of the Executive Committee of the British Burn Association, the National Organiser and Course Director for the ‘Emergency Management of Severe Burns’ course and a member of the Clinical Reference Group for Burns.
