This leaflet is a mandatory requirement under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The GDPR requires the provision of age-appropriate privacy notices for children to outline their rights under the regulations.

When you visit us at hospital, we care about your privacy. Here’s how we keep your information safe:

We want to know your name, age, and address and details of your medical history and anything you are allergic to. Having this information helps us to take good care of you.

We use this information to:

  • give you the right medicines
  • keep track of your visits and your progress
  • contact your parents or guardians if needed.

Who sees this information about you?

Only the people who need to know about your health can see your information. This includes:

  • doctors and nurses who take care of you
  • other hospital staff who help with your treatment
  • other doctors or hospitals if you need special care

Keeping the information about you safe

We have special ways to keep the information we know about you safe and private. This means:

  • storing your information in secure computers and files
  • carefully following strict rules to protect your privacy

Your rights

You and your parents or guardians have the right to:

  • ask to see the information we have about you
  • tell us if something is wrong with your information so we can correct it
  • ask us to limit how we use your information in certain situations
