Changes to car parking
From Monday 8 June 2026, parking will change as we begin building a new multi-storey car park.
The car park bays opposite the Endoscopy Unit, used by both patients and staff, will close to allow construction to start.
We know parking is an important part of your visit, and these changes may increase congestion in the main car park, particularly at busy times.
If you are visiting us, please allow enough time to park and make your way to your appointment.
Support for your visit
13 disabled parking bays that will close opposite the Endoscopy building will be moved between the Emerson Unit and the Community Diagnostic Centre. Clear signage will be in place to help you find these spaces easily.
Our free patient buggy service is available from the main car park to help patients.
Looking ahead
Our multi-storey car park work is central to our plans to build a state-of-the-art future hospital which will be built on the current main car park. The multi-storey will open towards the end of 2027 and will free up the space required to build the hospital. When open the mutli-storey car park will:
- provide over 1,300 spaces across six levels
- include larger bays for modern vehicles
- make parking easier with pay-on-exit and ANPR technology
- use smart signage to show where spaces are available
We understand this may make visiting a little more difficult in the short term and we thank you for your understanding as we work to improve facilities for patients, visitors and staff.
