We understand some people may feel frustrated, particularly at waiting times or delays and may wish to share their opinion about the quality of healthcare they receive.
But it is not acceptable to intimidate, abuse or harass members of staff, whether clinical or administrative for systemic problems caused by huge increases in demand coupled with a lack of resources and workforce capacity.
Abuse of our staff contributes to burnout and illness for those involved and contributes to the further worsening of pressure on services. The majority of patients are grateful for the care they receive and we’re grateful to them for giving staff the respect and kindness they deserve. For those that choose to abuse our staff know that the abuse of our staff will not be tolerated. There is no excuse for abuse.
We recognise that it is testing times for everybody and an increased demand on healthcare services has led to longer wait times for appointments and treatment however abuse is unacceptable.
We welcome constructive feedback as it allows us to improve services for our patients, but the abuse of staff will not be tolerated and may lead to prosecution.
Our ambition
Our ambition is for our Trust to be an organisation free from discrimination and abuse. Where all staff are able to reach their potential and provide outstanding care for our community.
The No Excuse for Abuse campaign makes clear our stance that we do not tolerate any form of abuse against our staff from anyone who comes in contact with our services.
We expect everyone to join us in stamping out any unacceptable abuse, racism, or discrimination against our staff
