Our Strategy 2024-2030

About us

We are a district general hospital with over 4,000 staff and volunteers dedicated to providing high-quality care to 331,000 people across West Norfolk, North Cambridgeshire, and Southern Lincolnshire.

As we move into Year 2 of our 2024-30 strategy, it’s important to reflect on key developments and focus areas.

The national healthcare landscape is evolving, with a shift towards community care, digital advancements, and prevention, aligning well with our strategic goals.

In support of this, we remain committed to collaborating with partners to deliver effective and timely care focusing on improved productivity and efficiency, supported by the implementation of our Electronic Patient Record in March 2026 which will provide us with a platform for further digital development.

Group Model

We will transition to a Group Model with Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Trust and James Paget University Hospitals NHS Trust from April 1, 2025. This model will focus on improving efficiency, standardising practices, and enhancing patient care. Featuring central leadership responsible for strategic direction and governance, while local sites will maintain operational management.

New Hospital Programme

The national New Hospital Programme has confirmed a new District General Hospital for King’s Lynn. We continue to focus on service development and pathway alignment with our wider Partners supported by the Acute Clinical Strategy programme and the development of King’s Lynn as a Marmot Town.

Financial sustainability

Enhanced financial oversight has led to a robust financial recovery plan for 2025/26, focusing on sustainability supported by workforce management.

A New Strategic Objective

We recognise the importance of ensuring that we maintain the current estate in order to ensure that we have a safe and fit for purpose infrastructure which will continue to enable us to deliver high quality services in an appropriate environment. This has led us to include an additional Strategic Objective within our Strategy – ‘Strategic Objective 10 – Built Environment.’

This Strategic Objective augments the nine other Strategic Objectives for the Trust and will allow us to focus on maintenance of a safe environment for our patients.

Our Year 2 priorities support our vision to make a positive difference together and remain our blueprint for providing quality, effective healthcare fit for the future, delivered by a skilled, caring, and compassionate Team QEH.
