Let’s Get Moving
Let's Get Moving is our campaign designed to improve the mobility and wellbeing of our adult patients.
Launched in September 2024 and proudly supported by QEHKL Charity, the programme is already making a significant difference on our wards, with NHS England recognising it as an exemplar of best practice.
Why it matters
During a hospital stay, many patients experience deconditioning – the loss of muscle strength and function from inactivity. This can delay recovery, extend hospital stays, and increase the risk of complications. By keeping patients moving, we can help them recover faster, reduce the risk of falls, and improve their overall health.

How you can get involved
As a family member of friend of a patient, you play an important role in supporting your loved one’s recovery. Here’s how you can help:
Talk to ward staff
Ask about the Let’s Get Moving campaign and how your loved one is being encouraged to stay active. Our teams is eager to involve families in keeping patients moving.
Be an exercise buddy
If your loved one is able, join them for some gentle chair exercises, stretching, or mobility activities. Even small actions can make a big difference.
Stay engaged in the process
Help us ensure your loved one stays hydrated, well-nourished, and motivated to stay active. Every bit of support counts!
Key activities you’ll see on the wards
In-room exercises
Chair yoga and simple bay exercises designed to keep patients moving in place.
Encouraging mobility
We focus on continence and active movement, integrating mobility into every aspect of care.
Daily discussions
Mobility is a key topic during patient care rounds, ensuring we’re making progress every day.
Nutrition and hydration
To support recovery, we’re focusing on healthy eating and drinking to fuel active recovery.
Together, we can make a difference
NHS England has praised the Let’s Get Moving campaign for reducing falls and improving patient outcomes. We’re committed to building on that success, and with your support, we can help your loved one recover faster and more independently.
So, next time you visit, talk to the staff about how you can get involved. Let’s work together to keep our patients moving and on the path to recovery!
