Katrina Petch

Housekeeper

Katrina Petch

Katrina Petch is a housekeeper on Tilney Ward, where we care for patients with heart problems (cardiology). NHS housekeepers help make sure that wards and other settings are clean, safe, and attractive places for patients and staff.

She explained:

“I’m there for the patients, their relatives, my colleagues, and anybody who comes onto the ward.

“I enjoy and like working as part of Team QEH very much – it’s rewarding, and the team around me are extremely professional.

“It feels very much like working in a family: we support each other, and we care for each other. Like anywhere, of course, we have up days and down days. The difference at QEH is that we know, just by looking at each other, how we feel each day and who might need a bit more support.

“The support and care we give each other means we can support our patients more effectively and offer them the best care. And that’s what we’re all about – offering the best care possible, every day.

“Don’t hesitate about applying for a job here. Don’t even stop to think. It’s a very caring organisation – they look after us, they listen to us. You enjoy coming to work and you know you are not alone.”
