Equality Delivery System for the NHS

The Equality Delivery System 2 (EDS2) is an optional approach to support the NHS to deliver the Public Sector Equality Duty for patients, public and staff. It builds on the Equality Delivery System (EDS). The Trust used the original EDS, and has now committed to using the EDS2 approach going forward.

The EDS2 recommends focus on 4 main outcomes:

• Better health outcomes
• Improved patient access and experience
• A representative and supported workforce
• Inclusive leadership

The above areas are broken down into 18 outcomes. The Trust’s equality and diversity objectives for 2015/16, using the EDS2 approach can be downloaded here.
