Step into Health

I am delighted to be able to write the foreward for what I consider to be a fantastic programme in “Step into Health”.

This is not only as the CEO of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation Trust but also as a former Royal Naval Officer, who after 20 years-service what through the same transition you are now all facing.

I know this can be challenge, but also know from first-hand experience the importance of getting the right support. I certainly believe that the QEH is that right sort of organisation and am proud of the welcome provided to patients, visitors and new starters alike. Step into Health logo

I also know the unique skill set and cultural values members of the formers bring to any organisation. Over the years I have helped a number of ex-service personnel from all three services on their transition. I am keen my organisation, which has a substantial number of former service men and women, attracts these sorts of skills and values into it and this is why I am wholeheartedly supporting “Step into Health”.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is proud and fully committed to the Step Into Health programme to offer current and former military personnel the opportunity to embark on a second fulling career for the benefit of others.

While those with medical and health related qualifications will obviously be welcomed into the NHS but we would also like to extend a wider invitation to join Team QEH. Management, finance, catering are among the wide variety of careers which are open to Military Leavers and Veterans.

We continue to provide high quality services for patients along with placing a strong emphasis on the importance staff play in the success of the organisation. In the future, we want to be delivering more integrated healthcare across our locality to support the whole population.

Serving the populations of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, The QEH boasts top class facilities, including state-of-the-art surgical theatres, a £650,000 dedicated Breast Unit along with a Midwife Led Birthing Centre. The Hospital is also proud to have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere along with excellent facilities for staff. We are also committed to offering training and development opportunities to staff.
