The format of the clinics:

There are often several clinics running at once so not everyone in the waiting area is for the same clinic.

For some clinics, children will need to have their height, weight, body mass index and head circumference recorded and sometimes also their blood pressure taken and/or urine tested.

The nurse or nursing assistant will explain this to you and your child if this is necessary.

We have changing facilities available for babies and scales for wheelchair users.

The Child Growth Foundation (2012) identifies best practice as follows:

  • 0 to two years of age – weigh naked.
  • Over two years of age – minimal clothing.
  • Nappies, shoes or slippers and the contents of pockets must always be removed.
  • Please feel free to use the water fountain, toilet facilities and children’s play area during your visit.

If you have any questions while you are here, please feel free to ask a member of staff who will be happy to help.
