Rehabilitation services
Rehabilitation services is an integrated service of both the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy professions, aiming to maximise individual’s function, decrease pain and maintain health and wellbeing. Working across both Inpatients and Outpatients the Rehabilitation staff aim to ensure that everyone who requires the expertise of the services, has an individualised rehabilitation program and where necessary has the appropriate equipment that enables them to be safe and as independent as possible in all aspects of the activities of daily living.
Our Rehabilitation service
Physiotherapists utilise exercise and education for both inpatients and outpatients to enable people to maximise their function. Following in depth assessments, a patient-centered approach to rehabilitation is used, supplemented by adjunct treatments such as manual therapy, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, taping techniques, education and advice and others as required on an individual basis.
Occupational Therapists enable improvements in function through the provision of appropriate equipment and aids, education, pacing techniques, exercises and problem solving. Individualising treatment is a high priority to encourage the highest levels of safety, comfort and practicality for outpatients and inpatients upon leaving the hospital.
Under the guidance of the qualified therapists the Assistant Practitioners and Therapy Assistants perform a vital role in carrying out patient-centered care plans by performing treatments, ongoing assessments, supplying and maintaining of equipment.
