The Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is situated in a rural area, where the distances to other population centres are large, and the road network is relatively poor. In response to this the Trust is now running additional acute outpatient clinics and carrying out day surgery procedures in a community setting, closer to patients’ homes and work. These services are consultant led and are fully supported by our team of specialist nursing staff.
All of our outreach sites have positive environmental benefits to ensure that our services are delivered to the patients in a relaxing stress free atmosphere. This area of our website has been developed to help you discuss with patients which services at which site might be able to best meet their needs. It provides information on the consultant and the teams who will be delivering the outreach service, and useful information on the various sites. Also included is a detailed referral pathway, showing the options available for each service, and a pathway on how that service will be delivered.
We have aimed to deliver our specialities, where possible, in a one-stop clinic. At the patient’s first initial appointment with our consultant, should they require treatment pre-assessment details will be taken by our Specialist Nursing Team. Should it be a treatment that we can provide locally, an agreed date and time for treatment will be decided at the outpatient appointment with the patient by the consultant. Following the procedure all post-ops and any further follow-up appointments required will also take place at the outreach site.
Should your patient require treatment that we are unable deliver in a community setting they will be offered this at the QEH in King’s Lynn. However, pre-assessments, post-ops and any follow-up appointments will all still be provided in the community
