Mr Hamed Al-Taher Consultant is a gynaecologist and the lead clinician for the Fertility services at the QEH. He
introduced the concept of ‘transport IVF’ to the Norfolk area in collaboration with Bourn Hall Clinic Cambridge in 1993.
Mr Al-Taher sees more than 150 new couples in his fertility clinics and 100 follow-up per year in addition to about 60 IVF couples. He performed several laparoscopic reproductive surgeries including endometriosis treatment, most of these are carried out at the Day Surgery Unit. Mr Al-Taher is a member of the British Fertility society and recognised trainer for ‘the management of the infertile couple’ module.

Mr Baskar has over 15 years’ experience in Ophthalmic
surgery and carries out small incision cataract and minor
eyelid surgery under local anaesthetic.
Mr Baskar also carries out assessment of watery eye and general Ophthalmic conditions.
Mr Bausbacher is a Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon.
He focuses on all aspects of vascular surgery including
revascularisation and bypass-surgery, aneurysm repairs and
also varicose vein surgery for which he offers a one-stop
clinic, including the ultrasound diagnostic in the initial
assessment, where appropriate.
Mr Bausbacher also performs a large variety of general surgical procedures including hernia repairs and almost 100 laparoscopic gallbladder operations per year.

concentrates on hip, total knee and Oxford partial knee

David Corby has over 14 years’ experience and graduated at
the University of Liverpool.
Mr Corby specialises in the assessment and management of children and adults with disorders of binocular vision, eg strabismus amblyopia.
Dr Andrew Douds was appointed to the QEH IN 1998. He is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of East Anglia. He sees patients with any gastroenterological problem but has particular interests in hepatology, bowel cancer screening and endoscopy.

Mr Easterbrook qualified from Sheffield University and completed his surgical training in the Newcastle Deanery. He has recently returned from a specialist unit in Brisbane, Australia, after completing a fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, in which he now has a special interest.

Mr Elghorori undertook his training in the Norfolk and Kent
regions and has been a consultant for over seven years.
He specialises in urogynaecology, prolapse surgery and
minimal access surgery.
He has introduced the Ambulatory Gynaecology service to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital over the last three years and will introduce this to the community in the future to diagnose and treat bleeding problems and heavy periods in an outpatient setting.

Mr Ghaffar runs a regular eye clinic at Fakenham surgery.
A speciality doctor, he has been working in this Trust since February 1994.
Mr Ghaffar’s qualifications are MBBS, DO, FRCS and FRCOphth. His speciality interests are management of glaucoma and diabetic eye problems.

Mr Ilie graduated from medical school in 2000, in
Cluj-Napoca, Romania and completed urological training six
years later in Bucharest.
Subsequent urological training has been undertaken in Manchester, Edinburgh, Prague, Leuven (Belgium) and Salzburg.
Mr Ilie has a special interest in minimally invasive urological procedures.

Littleport and Swaffham
Mr Maheshkumar has been a consultant urological surgeon
since 2010. He qualified from the University of Madras and
did his masters in general surgery prior to embarking on his
urological career in the West Midlands Deanery.
Following this he took a urological subspecialty fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia.
His main interests are upper tract laparoscopy and stone disease.

Mr Mandal trained as an orthopaedic surgeon in India and
continued his training in the East of England. Following this,
he completed a year of Senior Clinical Fellowship in hip and
knee arthroplasty at The Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Mr Mandal has extensive experience within orthopaedics and has performed over 4800 operations, including 750 hip and knee arthroplasties.
He has written a number of published scientific papers and maintains an Honorary Fellowship at The Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Fakenham and Littleport
Mr Nagendran carries out more than 500 surgical procedures
per year including small incision cataract surgery, filtration
surgery for glaucoma and correction of squints. Almost all the
cataract and glaucoma surgeries are carried out under local
anaesthesia as day case procedures.
Mr Nagendran also corrects any pre-existing refractive errors (long-sightedness, short-sightedness and astigmatism) at the time of cataract surgery and reduces the requirement for glasses following the operation.

Dr Pradeep completed his specialist rheumatology training in
East Anglia with research interests in ankylosing spondylitis
at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.
His current interest is in the management of patients with early inflammatory arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and osteoporosis.

Mr Nicholas Redwood is a fellow of the Royal College of
Surgeons of England, member of the Vascular Society of
Great Britain and has been a consultant surgeon at The
Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn since 1998.
He initially trained in London and then undertook higher surgical training in Newcastle upon Tyne where he gained entry onto the specialist register. His areas of interest include general, vascular and thyroid surgery. He is happy to see anything at the clinic in Fakenham that comes under the mantle of general surgery.

Mr Saeed specialises in small incision cataract surgery and is
highly experienced in the use of multifocal and
accommodative lens implants. He offers a full range of
refractive surgery procedures including LASIK and intraocular
contact lens (ICL). He is also a retinal specialist and offers
surgery for posterior segment diseases such as retinal
detachment, macular disorders and diabetic eye disease.
In addition to the above he offers treatment for glaucoma, squint, pterygium, lid surgery and general ophthalmic conditions.

Mr Wijewardena is a consultant General, Vascular and
Endocrine Surgeon. He performs over 300 day surgery
operations per year.
In particular, day surgery inguinal hernia repair under local anaesthesia has become very popular. He also has inpatient operating lists where he does major vascular surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery and laparoscopic cholecystectomies.
Mr Wijewardena is also the audit lead for the department of surgery and has a keen interest in monitoring and improving the quality of surgical care delivered by the department.
