General Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and head and neck services
The ENT department provides a wide range of services to patients suffering from benign conditions of the head and neck and also provides a comprehensive diagnostic assessment of patients with cancers. Our consultants have access to a full suite of diagnostic investigations including; microbiology; pathology for cytological and histo-pathological analysis; radiology for investigation with CT, MRI and ultrasound.
Patients are managed with multidisciplinary assessment and those patients with a diagnosis of cancer are assured rapid onward management through our networked links to multidisciplinary teams at the regional cancer treatment centre at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Norwich or Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. The general head and neck services offered at QEH include:
- Adenoidectomy
- Head and neck lump and bump assessment
- Salivary gland surgery for benign disease including:
- Parotid gland
- Submandibular gland
- Snoring and sleep apnoea assessment and surgery
- Tonsillectomy
- Urgent 2 week referral assessment

Your consultant will provide a detailed explanation of your condition or details of any planned surgery in order to obtain your consent to undergo a procedure. Post operative emergencies
In the event of a problem in the post operative period, you should contact the ENT office on 01553 613724 or 01553 613686. Out of hours emergencies may require attendance at the A and E department which will refer you to the on-call ENT team if necessary.
