Diabetes - In-Patient Care
If you do find that you have to come into the QEH, we have a dedicated specialist inpatient service. We are here to ensure you have a safe stay and where possible you remain in control of your diabetes.
Whilst an inpatient you should:
- Have someone check your feet, this includes removing any bandages and socks.
- Be asked to complete a self-administration form
- Be able to request a referral to the diabetes specialist inpatient team, if you feel this is required
If everything is going well in relation to your diabetes a referral the specialist diabetes team is not always required.
Our ward staff have received training within diabetes, but please be patient with them and remember they are not specialists.
